GSG AS

3D-printing

We offer various services in 3D printing and design. Our company has multiple 3D printers used for prototyping and functional testing of various models.

This provides customers with an extended and realistic opportunity to ensure that the design aligns with the specified requirements.

Our early investment in 3D printing has enabled us to contribute to the formation of a company located in Hammerfest – AM North AS. This company is owned by three equal partners, with GSG being one of them.

AM North specializes in additive manufacturing services. The goal is to deliver parts of the highest quality quickly and efficiently. AM North owns and operates high-quality equipment (3D printers) capable of producing products in a wide range of variations in size, material, structure, and complexity. The products are suitable for various applications and industries such as aerospace, medicine, automotive, seafood, oil and gas, and more.

Through this company, we can therefore provide most services in 3D printing.

An important and essential element of this initiative is the environmental and sustainability benefits 3D printing offers compared to traditional manufacturing methods. 3D printing enables local production, which reduces the need for transportation and the associated emissions from long-distance shipping. Additive manufacturing can be more energy-efficient than traditional manufacturing processes, especially for small batches or complex parts, as it requires less energy to build up layers of material than to remove excess material. 3D printing can be used to repair or upgrade existing products, extending their lifespan and reducing waste. Spare parts can be printed on demand, eliminating the need for large inventories, and producing parts on request reduces the risk of overproduction.

Advantages of 3D Printing:

  • Reduced Material Waste: 3D printing builds objects layer by layer, resulting in minimal material waste compared to traditional methods such as milling or cutting.
  • Efficient Material Use: The process uses only the necessary amount of material, saving resources and reducing the need for raw material extraction and transport.
  • Extended Product Lifespan: 3D printing can be used to repair or upgrade existing products, extending their lifespan and reducing waste.
  • Design for Sustainability: Designers can optimize products for sustainability using 3D printing. This includes creating lighter, stronger parts that use less material and energy both in production and use.

These advantages demonstrate how 3D printing can contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future by improving resource utilization, reducing waste, and promoting local production solutions.
